2、Speculum est Christus

“...Christus ergo speculum est, in quo electionem nostram contemplari convenit, et sine fraude licet” (Instit., III, 24, 5)...
“...Christus itaque sit speculum, in quo praedestinationem nostram contemplemur. (Conf. Helv. post., 1566, art. 10)"

Christ is accordingly a mirror, in which He (God) brings together our election to be observed/contemplated, and it is allowed without deceit/fraud”
“…Thus Christ would be a mirror, in which we would be observed/beheld in respect to our predestination. ”

既然是election,那么就有elector,这里,Elector (此时elector要大写) 就是He (God);既然有Elector,那么就有whoever is elected,这里”whoever is elected”就是man; 既然是election, 那么应该还有the way in which man is elected,这里,”the way“就是Jesus Christ,也即”the Mediator (between God and man)“。需要注意的是,the basis of man’s election is not in man himself, but in Christ and only in Christ。

@Medievalist:
He (God).

in whom we may contemplate our predestination.
@楼主:
Aristotle以后尤指matter, 或the first matter of the universe.

是的,“electionem nostram contemplari ”即“to contemplate our election”,而“praedestinationem nostram contemplemur”即“we may/could contemplate our predestination”。
