Steven Fanning is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is author of A Bishop and His World Before the Gregorian Reform, Hubert of Angers, 1006-1047 (1988), as well as almost a dozen articles on late antiquity and the Middle Ages.
